Review of Memories of Murder (2003) by Patritzio F — 25 Jan 2013
Set in 1986 in a rural village in South Korea the film follows the story of two detectives who are on the search for a serial killer. Set over the space of several years during the political turmoil of the period the film follows the desperate search for the killer and the measures the detectives are willing to take to get their man.
Although honoring a serious theme the film's portrayal of its characters and their flaws quickly draw the audience to moments of empathy and humour as we see their morals and beliefs evolve throughout the film.
