Review of Memories of Murder (2003) by Zacho D — 17 May 2013
Memories of Murder is a brilliantly funny, yet, complex film. Its satirical tone and its willingness to make jabs at its characters creates a sense of affection towards them, elevating it above most detective films.
Memories of Murder is filled with rich insights into the intricate difficulties of detective work and the subtle truths of human relationships (as well as the human propensity to search for an ever-elusive truth).
Furthermore, the cinematography and the soundtrack are nothing short of fantastic. Along with Oldboy, Memories of Murder is Korean cinema at its finest.
