Review of Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992) by Heather M — 29 Jun 2009
Up until, say 1994, John Carpenter rarely put a foot wrong. This is one of those times. MEMOIRS... is a painfully unfunny, pointless updating of the Universal and H. G. Wells classic, with Chevy Chase miscast as the guy in the wrong place at the wrong time who becomes invisible.
Chase hams it up and Sam Neill wonders what he's doing with a character with zero motivation. Good effects for the time, but otherwise a pointless exercise in money-making.
