Review of Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) by Hau H — 01 Aug 2009
A miraculous adaptation of Arthur Golden's fiction piece, this movie went far beyond my expectation in terms of the superiority of the story as well as its delivery. I was literally haunted by the character Chiyo's conviction, and by the inner beauty of this little girl that remained intact even after her historic "geisha transformation". There're a few elements in this masterpiece that contributed to the flawless recipe: light yet fruitful humor, natural correlation to audience, better-than-perfect cinematography, and a heartfelt love story.
P.S. This movie soundtrack is also one of a kind. I really recommended.
