Review of Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) by Sarah R — 15 Nov 2009

This film is beautifully made, but lacking some of the emotional gravity of the novel. There is something hollow about it; too much of the story has been removed for the events that remain to have as much weight.

Still, as a condensed version of the novel, it's pretty good. I'd have hated to be the person responsible for chopping the novel into a 2 hour movie script though...
