Defines beauty coming at a high cost. These woman (object more like it.) aren't allowed to be. They can't feel, think for themselves, have desires. All in the hopes of being desired by a man. A very realistic look into this oft forgotten world. We've come so far forward or backwards, depending how you look at it. The things these woman did to please a man compared to that of what a streetwalker can do now. Sheeesh, that's a huge gap! *That's what he said!*.

I particularly enjoyed the movie once the war hit and there was a battle between maintaining and appreciating the ways of the old world and western customs.
