Review of Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) by Marae B — 12 Apr 2010
This film had a number of things that I would change - for example, at times the dialogue was hard to follow and also, the pace of the film dropped a couple of times which made it feel like it was dragging.
However, what it does do effectively is provide an insight into a different world. That alone is interesting enough - even if it at times made me question the motives and actions of the characters.
It is also well worth noting that it is a film that is visually impressive. Obviously, there are a number of very beautiful women in it, but the way in which it is shot makes the whole thing look good.
I'm sure the book is better so it's on my 'to read' list.
