Fans of the book will probably enjoy this visually stunning movie. But why does Hollywood always have to put in a dig at Americans? In the book, the Americans were not particularly odious, and the Minister was Japanese.
In the movie, he is a boorish "Ugly American," and of course, the Americans are all "bastards.
