Review of Memento (2000) by John B — 24 Aug 2014
This film is one of the few that leaves you guessing and guessing. When you think you've got to the bottom of it, it throws you in a totally different direction. I watched it a few times and still not completely figure it out. I then decided to watch it in chronological order on youtube. It's makes much more sense but destroys a lot of the mystery of the film.
It's very well made, it's dark tense and thrilling. The actors are very well cast in their roles and Christopher Nolan does an excellent job with the direction.
It's hard to pick holes in the story cause there aren't any real plot holes to speak of. The only thing is it leaves you asking a lot of questions (ones you never get the answer to). This in a film I find frustrating, I like a thriller that keeps you guessing up until the final scenes. This film leaves you guessing and guessing. It's still a great film but it's incredibly confusing and at times hard to follow.
