A man, suffering from short-term memory loss, uses notes and tattoos to hunt for the man he thinks killed his wife. The story is divided into black/white and color sequences. The b/w sequences are in the correct chronological order.
The color ones, though shown forward are ordered in reverse alternating from "reverse flowing" pathway to "forward flowing" pathway.
