Review of Memento (1967) by Trevor R — 31 Mar 2013
This is probably Nolan's most effective usage of the "form = content" narrative structure he's become so fond of, equating the audience's experience with Leonard's by forcing them to constantly piece things together when dropped at the start of each new, unknown scene.
Much more than a gimmick, things build to a dark and shocking climax. I never felt as emotionally affected by the Shelby's story as I felt I should have, but everything else is excellently crafted.
