Review of Melvin and Howard (1980) by Jeffrey K — 08 Nov 2007
The always great Jason Robards gets top billing, even thugh he only has about 10 minutes of screen time. A sympathetic biopic of a regular working-class guy who stood to gain $156 million if the Howard Hughes will he mysteriously "found" had been admitted to probate.
In fact, the will's numerous spelling errors and logical inconsistencies make it very likely that Melvin made the whole thing up, although given what a nutjob Hughes was, anything is possible.
