Review of Melinda and Melinda (2004) by Arin D — 18 Dec 2009
The idea is that every human story can be viewed as either a tragedy or a comedy, given the right (or wrong) perspective. Fine. So it plays out with the premise of strange or long-estranged woman who interrupts a dinner party and starts a story.
Radha Mitchell is the Melinda of the title, and play both flavors. The strange thing is that I didn't find the tragedy flavor particularly tragic (in fact it seemed some kind of poor predestination gimmick: we repeat the mistakes we like to make); and the comic version had some rather predictable and hence sad (for me) elements.
Still, worth seeing if you're a Radha Mitchell fan (which I am).
