Review of Melancholia (2011) by Peter A — 29 Jul 2012
An low key, moody and sombre piece that fails to achieve as both art and entertainment saved only by the outstanding opening and climax as the planet Melancholia collides with Earth. Two sisters, a husband and a child react differently to their impending doom with Kirsten Dunst's Janine calm acceptance in contrast to Claire's panicky denial.
If only the middle section wasn't so boring and stuck up its own back passage this would have been a great work.
