Review of Melancholia (2011) by Ryan B — 18 Mar 2015
The first part of the film was a little much, but the second part," Claire", was incredible. I have never felt so tense as I did when Melancholia came into play. The feeling hopeless was overwhelming at times. Had the entire movie been as focused as the second half, this would have been a masterpiece.
Also, Dunst was great, but I think Gainsbourg was the unsung hero of this. Her descent into despair towards the end was heartbreaking.
