Review of Melancholia (2011) by Matt K — 24 Jan 2017
Wow I don't know what I was thinking the first time I reviewed this. I guess the best films (and books and art) are the ones that bear repeated viewings (Mooonrise Kingdom and Life Aquatic come to mind -- maybe just the Anderson connection).
Meloncholia is a beautifully shot combination of surrealism and real world apocalyptic fervor. It can also be view through the lens of chronic severe depression, which the whole thing might just be an allegory for.
