Review of Melancholia (2011) by Pa K — 22 Jan 2016
I have to say that when I started watching it from the beginning I had no idea what the movie was about (other than end-of-the-world) and had never heard of Lars von Trier.
And my initial reaction was "um, how long is this surreal crap going to go on before we get to the action?".
So clearly I was looking for another movie.
BUT I forwarded to the last 20 minutes, then went back and watched patches of the movie and then watched the whole movie. Had horrible, vivid dreams about being in the movie - with the planet coming to squash me in slow motion - and then woke up and watched the movie again.
Spent days thinking about the movie, the meaning of human life, and life on other planets etc etc.
Lars you messed with my head and I love you.
