Review of Melancholia (2011) by Lukas O — 08 Jul 2012
Lars Von Trier's masterfully directed film about depression is a hypnotically beautiful and severely haunting experience, featuring performances from Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg that truly blew me away.
Dunst especially plays her character so well that you can't help but feel her own terrible hopelessness. The semi-science fiction plot may be a bit unbelievable at times, but really... who cares? Simply get lost in this masterpiece of a film.
