Review of Megan Leavey (2017) by Jon C — 09 Jun 2017
Kate Mara is terffic playing the real life Megan Leavey of the Corporal Marines.
Her life is empty and unfulfilling since she lost her best friend and her folks are seperated but she figures if she can serve her country she can escape.
Things change so much more after she meets a bomb canine named Rex who is so rigid with everyone.
Whatever she feels Rex feels, so they may or may not be ready for fight in the field of duty.
The film wonderfully explores the bond between human and animal, they're both more than just heroes in combat.
The emotions are just enough to buy their relationship and seeing them work together as a unit is extraordinary.
When the fighting is over is that it, does Megan just go back to her old lifestyle? is Rex the fuel for her to keep going?
Great acting from Mara along with some nice supporting players such as Common and Tom Felton.
Rex is one of those rare rescue animals that makes a country see how partners don't always have to be just humans.
We've seen stuff like this before but it's told so well.
