Review of Megan Leavey (2017) by Brandon W — 01 Jan 2018
Megan Leavey is directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, and it stars Kate Mara and Ramon Rodriguez in a biographical drama film about a female Marine that has developed a strong bond with a bomb-sniffer dog, and when an accident occurred that injured both of them, Megan Leavey (Kate Mara) decides to retire and wants to keep the dog, even if it makes it harder to do so because of the way the dog acts aggressively.
I was interested in the true story aspect in the film, while my sister loves dog films, which I knew that we should watch this, even though the trailer spoiled most of the main plot for me. Kate Mara is absolutely fantastic in this that at times I think that person was an actual military soldier with the way that she acts.
I like the strong bond that she has with the dog as it's interesting to see how it starts and how it goes from there. I even don't mind the romance that Megan Leavey had with a soldier, which I can sort of see the criticism of that aspect from people that talked about this film, but I didn't mind it at all, and I did like Ramon Rodriguez in this which I'm glad to see him giving in some good work after Transformers 2.
It can be suspenseful to watch with the action scenes that are entertaining, and I felt like this was something that I wanted to see that Max barely tried to do that wasted that potential. Megan Leavey is a fantastic drama that my sister and I really enjoyed that made us interested in the strong bond that puts them together.
