Review of Megamind (2010) by Bigboi777 — 12 Aug 2019
This movie is a masterpiece of children's entertainment. It shows humour, intellect and emotion all extremely well, and I feel it is severely underated. When I first saw this movie, I though it was great, but having revisited it now, I have even more respect for it.
The character interaction is quite spectacular, with the scene where Roxanne leaves Megamind being the perfect example of this, showing genuine emotion and understanding of emotion between two characters, and from the perfect buildup beforehand, you don't know how to feel, which was exactly what they were going for.
You know from her perspective, he's kidnapped her for years and he killed the city's hero, but from his perspective, he's changed so much, and instead of chasing her in this scene, he lets her go, as he respects her as a person now.
The movie just really shows such complexity, easily enjoyed by adults and children alike, for completely different reasons.
