Review of MegaForce (1982) by Kay J — 15 Jan 2019
There are two ways to see this movie. Sit down and approach it as Hal Needham intended; The "'Murica Saves the World" lovesong to the military industrial complex of Needham's dreams, OR, the hilarity of cliche upon cliche being woven together and packaged as a serious action flick.
When viewed as the first, it falls far short of being taken seriously, but when viewed as a movie that was intended to be a serious action adventure, it's outright HILARIOUS!! You can't watch this movie and NOT laugh out loud at the dialog, the costumes, and the macho posturing of Barry Bostwick in spandex.
If they'd have packaged this as a comedy, it works. Not quite Spaceballs, but close in places. This is a movie MST3K would do proud :).
