Review of Meet the Parents (2000) by Diganta B — 05 Sep 2011
Here is a perfect example of how an ending can save a film and how writing a review 11 years after first seeing it gives you more than ample time to see it again and change your opinion. In my case this is more than true.
I've never been one that finds embarrassment humor all that fun, and watching Stiller's poor character get demoralized time and time again made it rather unpleasant for me the first time around.
Then, and truly out of the blue, the ending comes around and gives us one of the most tender (yes I do mean tender), funniest, unforgettable movie moments in a long time that also contains one of my favorite movie quotes ever.
Odd how a great ending can make the previous feelings go away, and how during the second viewing, you can take what perturbed you with ease because you know the pay-off is well worth it.
