Review of Meet the Parents (2000) by Christian V — 01 May 2012
Ben Stiller is about to marry the love of his life (Teri Polo). However, he has to endure the crucible that is Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), the intimidating father-in-law who used to be a CIA agent. Most of the humor in this movie is derived from awkward family gags that are staples of network sitcoms.
Stiller and De Niro, however, give strong performances and Meet the Parents ends up being much funnier than one would initially suspect.
