Review of Meet the Parents (2000) by Torion O — 12 Feb 2018

I feel that this movie would have been funnier if it had been more subtle. Robert de Niro and Ben Stiller had their moments and some very funny lines, occasionally, but for me, the real star of the film was Mr. Jinx the cat. He was seriously funny and very cute.

I think overall, my feeling of embarrassment and cringing at the things that went wrong overcame any feeling of hilarity. Are house fires actually funny? A septic tank erupting over a lawn? Eye injuries just before a wedding? For me, it was too much like real life to be funny. Bring back the cat.
