Review of Meet the Mormons (2014) by Tracie S — 11 Oct 2014
I saw this movie with my family. There are few movies that we can attend together but this is perfect for that. I'm uncertain what the critics were hoping to see. The title, "Meet the Mormons" says it all.
The movie begins in Times Square where people are asked what a Mormon is and what they believe. Very few knew and even more had misconceptions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The whole point of the movie is to introduce the Mormon Faith, its members and to correct misconceptions about the Church.
It's a beautiful film about everyday people who have difficulties but trust in and work through things with God and the help of the Church. Each featured story had an inspiring message that I could use to help me through with my own struggles.
I thought it was touching, fun, inspirational, educational, uplifting and a relaxing way to spend a Saturday night with my husband and children. No only did I enjoy the time with my family, by attending, we actually did something for others because all the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross! The reviewers must have been looking for some of the filthiness that can be found in the world.
I'm trying to lift myself above all that and do better, this was a perfect place to start.
