Really wonderful movie! The mormons didn't set out to explain in detail their religious details, so it is perfectly fine that the movie didn't get into that. Who would want to watch that anyway? Even for them it would be like more church.
The point of the movie was to show Mormon people living normal lives, and to feel the happiness that the movie provides. Looking at it from any other point of view is silly.
