Review of Meet the Feebles (1989) by Shane B — 26 Oct 2007
This is one of my favourite movies of all time.
It is tasteless, totally non pc, and is designed to offend 98% of the population.
It touches on sex, drugs, vomit, and the age old battle between good and evil.
With a NZ$20,000 budget, this film set Peter Jackson off on his path to super stardom.
It is so hilarious, so grubby, so tasteless, and so perverse that it has a special place close to my heart.
Sebsatian singing "sodomy", the blowfly eating the rabbit's scat with a silver spoon, the porno shoot with the rat and the cow with pierced udders? An anteater as a panty sniffer?
Heidi the hippo being two timed by a siamese cat?
Go and watch Titanic, or the English patient, or some other academy award winner if you cant put your feet up, relax, and piss yourself laughing at a cult movie masterpiece.
It is classic kiwi humour, designed to be bloody funny, and very 'edgy'.
It is not meant to appeal to American audiences, or the Academy. Lord of the Rings and King Kong, by the same director have already plundered those Holy Grails.
This is hilarious, gritty, cult cinema stuff that will leave you in tears, one way or the other.
