Review of Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) by John R — 27 Nov 2007
Another classic MGM musical, this one featuring Judy Garland as the centerpiece. Margaret O'Brien is cute if not annoying as little sister Tootie, and the actor playing Judy's love interest ("The boy next door .
. . ") is a dud, but the songs are nifty, and the film is very well crafted. Besides "Boy Next Door," this film gives us the "Trolley Song," and the popular and enduring "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
" Good stuff!
