Review of Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) by Kellie L — 30 Aug 2008
A beautiful film in every way. The songs are memorable, the story affecting and the direction is really memorable. This film tells the story of a upper middle class mid western family through a year on the eve of the St Louis fair.
Judy Garland is perfect and the acting is smooth, pointed and shot through with gentle humour. The sumptuous technicolor bathes every scene with its gorgeous hues. This comes close to number one in my film list.
Every scene is crisply directed and memorable.
