MGM's contribution to the war weary nation of women who spent long hours of physical labor making aircraft, ships, and other weapons of war. A beautiful and fantastic escape into "the good ole' days" as portraid in the song, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
" Every step of the way through the story was the perfect woman escape to plenty of female gratuitious fantasy, which all the while will leave the men with a distorted look on their face and a brain numbing "Huh?, I don't get it.
" Almost no detail was overlooked in catering to the female fantasy. Elaborate costumes, striking colors and dramatic camera angles in almost every scene. Very good acting and smooth transitions into song.
A plot so simple a 4 year old girl could understand it. Typical storyline that caters to the female fantasy where a woman problems arise with their beauty, their men and a Christmas Eve's party that goes all wrong.
Dispite all the hard work they did to make this a great movie, I cannot give it more than an 8, and even that I feel I'm being too warm-hearted and generous. The dramatic ups and downs in the plot were not warrented by simply moving to another city.
Thus the fantastic came right to the brim of ridiculous and this seemed to be the norm through out the entire movie.
