Review of Meet Dave (2008) by Kaleiwahine K — 11 Dec 2008
An emotionless team of aliens landing on Earth who befriend an annoying nerdy little kid, a hot widow, and a random guy who sticks out for them.
Your typical run-off-the-mill Disney movie... I found it to be funny only in scenes where "Dave"'s lack of understanding of emotion or the failure of the crew to perform simple actions were the principal focus. Basically, I liked it only for its slapstick content.
The little kid was annoying as hell (Just when you thought you'd seen the most annoying, dumbest grinning, most pathetic child character... nope, this one's got worse in stock. Seriously, his dialogue hurt my brain.), the human characters were retarded and amazingly superficial (Who am I fooling? It's a Disney flick...), and the alien crew was entertaining (but some characters were, yet again, annoying).
Yeah, moderately funny thanks to Eddie Murphy's talent for slapstick and simple comedy and for the comedic concept of emotionless aliens discovering human emotion.
