Review of Meet Bill (2007) by Jen M — 24 Oct 2010
I liked this movie. It's simple, nothing completely new, but it's an interesting take and a new spin on the whole mid-life crisis thing, along with many other things wrong in Bill's life. Aaron Eckhart is great in this movie,Logan Lerman too, he's definitely a promising young actor.
Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Alba and Timothy Olyphant are pretty good too, but their characters really aren't all that in-depth. There's definitely some funny moments as well as some touching moments, but.
.. the ending I'm not a big fan of and the message it sends is pretty stupid. He quits his job... but can't decide what he wants to do. Throughout the movie there's mentions of dreams he's had and things he's always wanted to do, but when it comes down to it.
.. he doesn't want to do any of it and it just ends with him middle-aged and unemployed with no prospects, kinda takes away from the rest of the film. Worth a watch though, it's a simple, straight-forward movie with some very funny moments and it tries to send a message, at least, even though that kind of falls flat.
Message or not, it's a nice little flick.
