Review of Meek's Cutoff (2011) by Karen C — 05 May 2011
The most authentic treatment of the emigrant experience I've seen on the screen. Yes, the situation is more dramatic than what most people encountered, but there's no "flash / bang" action, and very little dialogue.
The pace is slow, on purpose, and while it's not immediately engaging, the film draws you in. The setting, of course, is spectacular.
