Review of Mechanic: Resurrection (2016) by Robert I — 27 Aug 2016
Apparently, long ago, I gave the first "Mechanic" a very favorable score. I saw it one time and by the time this sequel rolled around I had all but forgotten it.
This is pretty much a standalone Jason Statham movie and he's still awesome. But the film itself is extremely straight forward and basic. There's not really any twists. There's not much identity it has. It could've been a "Hitman" movie starring Jason Statham.
The script of course is horrible. There's numerous plotholes, trouble with time, geography, and logic... But I mean, this is a Statham Action Film, I'm not going to hold those things against it. What I will hold against it is that the film comes up at least one twist too short. One twist I can think of would actually have fixed a few plotholes and made use of its cast just a little more. Oh well.
