Review of Meatballs (1979) by Gus S — 30 Jun 2008
Timeless summer movie that would have floundered without the strong leadership of Bill Murray. There isn't a lot of laugh out loud humor, but there is a lot of nostalgic, "I remember when I did something crazy like that" enjoyment in the film.
The writing is a lot better than the summer camp type flicks to follow in the next two decades, but I think the screenwriters gave themselves too many characters to handle and we never really got to know more than a few.
