Review of Meatballs (1979) by Cole W — 23 Mar 2008
This hasn't aged well. It was hilarious when I caught it on cable when I was 10. Now, it's kinda corny. The bawdy humor is tame, and the sentimentality is too cloying, but I might just be too jaded these days.
I used to think that the early Bill Murray roles -- that guy he would play in all his early films - - was the awesome sort of party guy I'd like to be. Now, with a few years behind me, I see that that character was kind of an asshole. An asshole with a heart of gold, I guess.
