Review of Meatballs (1979) by Chris H — 07 Apr 2008
Another moment of me revisiting my 80's childhood, Meatballs is a little bit dated today but gets by on Bill Murray's off-the-cuff charm and the fact that if you ever went to summer camp as a youngster, you'll probably recognize some of the characters here.
It's harmless, good-natured, and has enough chuckles to make for decent Sunday afternoon viewing. It's better than the three sequels simply because it doesn't try to be a leering, immature sex-filled movie, instead it tries to bring back good memories of growing up.
