Review of Meatballs (1979) by Cat N — 31 Jul 2008
There are a few laughs, and Bill Murray definitely steals the show. I'm not entirely sure that it's worth multiple viewings, but it's still pretty good. I thought the handful of overly romantic pop songs (one of which was sung by David Naughton, of 'American Werewolf In London' fame) were a strange choice for the film's soundtrack.
.. especially since this is supposed to be a semi-raunchy kid flick... but it wasn't bad enough to make me dislike the film. Murray fans are sure to love 'Meatballs,' and the general public should, at the very least, find it to be an acceptable way to kill 92 minutes.
The only thing is, I kept waiting for Jason to pop-out of the bushes and slaughter the horny counselors... sadly, he never did.
