Review of Meat Grinder (2009) by Jon P — 15 Mar 2011
I can't put my finger on why asian horror movie directors are so fascinated with cannibalism. It is the third movie which I've seen that has a restaurant that serves human flesh as a delicacy, but is not known by the customers.
The similarities with the other two movies end up here. Meat grinder is extremely well made, the soundtrack creates an atmosphere of a romance or a drama movie, the photography uses some scenes in black and white showing only the red of the blood.
The camera, sometimes shaken, sometimes hold still, sometimes watching Buun from a far distance, captures the constant tension in a raw way. As always there is violence, torture, a meat grinder (literally), a lot of blood, but this time, the director depicts the extreme violence with a nuance of romance, something that is almost pleasent to see.
But is definitely not. A must have movie. I just bought it on ebay.
