Review of Mean Streets (1973) by Abdul-Aziz A — 10 Oct 2008
A wonderful look into the lives of New Yorkers in the 70s. Johnny Boy might be de niro's greatest characters. His greed and carelessness is the driving force behind and otherwise bleak story. Keitel looks good as johnny boy's unofficial caretake, even though it get him in a lot of trouble with a lot of people.
At first the transitioning of the story feels a little jaded, so a second viewing is neccessary to really appreciate the film.
