Review of Mean Streets (1973) by Blair D — 15 Sep 2009
Absoloutly classic. De Niro makes this film for me, as his character Johhny Boy, the inpredicatble rebel with a gambling problem, was the catalyst for so many other unforgettable Scorcese characters - Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, Travis Bickle In Taxi Driver, Jake La Motta, Bill the Butcher and nearly every single character in The Departed.
This film is one of the best, ever. Full stop.
