A thrilling and intense urban gangster tale, first great Italian American crime movie directed by Martin Scorsese. While it stays true to its electrifying plot, it also shows what it means to sin it the most ostentatious meaning of the word.
It doesn't necessarily focus on any specific action, rather the harsh daily routine of a few New York-based gangsters, but that's the real strength of this movie. It's definitely De Niro's time to shine, and a first of many marks in his untimely and fantastic collaboration with Scorsese.
It possesses that lively expressionistic feel in every subsequent shot.
