Review of Mean Girls (2004) by Am-I-A-Martian — 11 Jan 2021
This is a refreshing and sharp teenage movie, that serves as a case study for group interactions and formations, subtly hidden behind a funny script. The plot uses archetypes that are very common to other teenage comedies, but adds a layer of spontaneity and character development that makes for an interesting film.
I do, however, wished this trend continued onto the third act, that feels a bit rushed and too predictable in a movie that carried two very consistent and original acts. Nonetheless, the witty humor and charismatic performances by the actors make this a very enjoyable film.
