Review of Mean Girls (2004) by Nick P — 02 Jun 2014
Mean Girls, directed by Mark Waters is a must see for all teen girls. The movie first starts off with main character Cady Heron entering high school after living in Africa and being homeschooled most of her life.
High school is an obvious big adjustment for Cady. The "Plastics" are the first ones to get to Cady. The "plastics" consist of Regina George, Gretchen Weiners, and Karen Smith. Regina, the captain of the plastics and the most popular girl in the school takes Cady under her wing to make her "cooler".
Cady at first is not too up for this but her artsy new friends, Damian and Janis convince her to go along with it. Janis has her own animosities toward Regina and sees this as a great opportunity to spy on and find out secrets about her.
This plan soon backfires for both of the groups when Cady becomes a bigger plastic than Regina. A theme in Mean Girls is definitely individuality. For the majority of this movie everyone in it lacks individuality and they are all trying to be clones of whatever is cool.
Near the end that changes and important it is. How legendary this movie is, is a little they realize the true beauty of individuality and how unbelievable. This comedy came out nearly a decade ago and is still buzzing, especially in social media.
Girls are really able to see how easy it is for someone to completely change who you are. After watching this you can really work on staying true to yourself so that no one is able to do that. One of my favorite quotes from Mean Girls is, "That is so fetch!" said by Gretchen Weiners.
I like this quote because it's just so fetch. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The second Mean Girls didn't do this justice.
