The movie only really takes off once the bully takes on a more central role. The scenes featuring him and the way he relates to the group are pretty compelling and lend a potent sense of tragedy to an otherwise mediocre and predictable story.
The film's main source of redemption lies in its competent cinematography, its tense climax, and some of the actors' respectable characterizations.
