Review of Mean Creek (2004) by Breanna K — 28 Dec 2008
One of the finer movies I've seen in the last few years. It's rough and raw and not easy to watch. Having both excellent actors for their ages and a unique view on adolescent angst, the story isn't told in a tired fashion.
The story is at times predictable, but with that goes the emotional depth of the acting, the narrative urgency relying on more than dialogue and action and a unique twist to broaden your scope. I think this movie has some stars of the future and possible more.
