Review of Mean Creek (2004) by Kevin Val B — 28 Sep 2009
Excellent performances from all the young actors. Watch it just for that one scene where Rory Culkin and Carly Schroeder emphatically contemplate on how the heinous act they had just experienced could ultimately shape their future.
The movie's treatment of its young characters is quite commendable, fleshing them out thoroughly, creeping into their innermost fears and anxieties and ultimately revealing their innocent strength.
I just love the resolution. The movie adeptly depicts how we all can choose to do the right thing, even in the most dire circumstances. One of the finest coming-of-age stories I've seen yet.
