Review of Me Before You (2016) by Mariarosaria S — 24 Jun 2016

I was told this was going to be the new "Notebook" and that I should bring my tissues, but I honestly didn't tear up at all. It left me annoyed and a touch angry that the sensitive subject matter was not further explored or treated with the respect it deserves.

It made no sense to me how a female lead character could invest so much of herself in the relationship and clearly change the demeanor of the leading male, yet not enough to change his plans. If he had truly been changed through their relationship, why did his plans not waiver? The only thing I could see that would make him steadfast in his determination to follow through with his plans would be that the pain far surpassed his emotions towards her, and this did not come across well enough in the movie.

Disappointed.
