Review of Me Before You (2016) by Chuck B — 23 Jul 2016
Spoiler Alert!!! Okay, this is one of those movies that is good up until the end. But the end is so bad, that it ruins the whole movie. The movie is about a man that is paralyzed from the neck down and the caretaker that falls in love with him.
He is a rich man and at first a real jerk to his caretaker. But as time goes on he warms to her and she to him. Then (Spoiler) she finds out that he has made plans to commit euthanasia in Switzerland.
She tries to show him life is worth living. And during this time they fall in love. So happy ending? No. He still kills himself. Yes a rich man that still has full use of his mind kills himself. Why? What is the moral? Should Stephen Hawkins have killed himself? I knew someone was going to die, but I didn't see euthanasia.
I can't support a movie that glorified a man that kills himself even though a beautiful woman loved him, he still had his mind, and he was rich enough to live a privileged life. Terrible story.
